The concept behind this is good however, the bugs tend to get stuck in the tubes often. I have to constantly take it apart, because my four year old is unable to disconnect the tubes without destroying it.

Don’t forget to buy the vertical climbing Hexbugs, February 20, 2015

The whole Hexbug system is really cute. Kids love to watch the bugs scurry about. My cons are as follows: Bugs are pricey, easy to loose, and they require those small batteries that you have to take a special trip for. The bugs do get stuck inside the tracks and you have to shake them out. The connector joints are hard to take apart (you have to squeeze opposing sides) and kids asks for help constantly. The toy gets boring pretty quick and you realize you need a couple of kits to let kids create there own and build to make it last. You need to buy the special vertical climbing bugs that are more expensive.

Entertaining at first. Great when it works. But the bugs frequently don’t right themselves when they are on their side. And the connectors are such that the bugs often get stuck climbing, inside the various tubes, so one is constantly tapping the set to get them to continue. The result is that little kids get tired and move on, thus the price is pretty high when compared to the time the kids play with it. And the reality is that there are not enough pieces in one set to be able to make different circuits.
